Meet the A.C. Stokes of A.C. STOKES DESIGNS

Hello! I've been thinking of starting a blog for quite some time now and now that I've finally gotten around to it, I decided an introduction of who's behind all this would be an appropriate first post. So here it goes: My name is Amanda Chloe Stokes (hence the A.C. Stokes). I am 31 and I am happily married to Ryan for nearly 12 years now. We have 5 wonderful children - Chloe (11), Xander (9), Cache (4), Phalynn (2), and Olive (1).

The 5 -- we don't do very good at getting everybody to smile at the same time.

I've been sewing since I was pregnant with Cache when I just really wasn't happy with the crib bedding options (and prices) for baby boys. He was going to be rooming with us and I really didn't want to have baby blue bedding on his crib and something entirely different on our bed. So, I decided to make his bedding and some coordinating items for our bed as well. It took me a long time to do, but I thought all-in-all it turned out pretty good. No, I don't think I have any pictures, though.....
Through the years, I've always wanted our children's clothing to be some-what matching for pictures and special occasions. With as many kids and age and size differences as there are in our family, that task of matching everyone was hard, so I decided I'd start making a few things. Then, I noticed that I couldn't find anything for me that was modest enough, loose enough, high enough, long enough, and otherwise mom-body-friendly enough for me to buy. So, I started playing around with some designs for myself as well.
A top I recently made for myself.
Back-track to my childhood, and that's where I started crocheting. My Granny (who I live right next door to) taught me to crochet and read the patterns when I was about 8. I crocheted blankets for my first 2 children while I was pregnant with them and always liked doing hats and stuff. Last year I offered a few designs through Facebook (www.facebook.com/ACStokesDesigns) and ended up with a steady stream of owls, Hogs, and all sorts of other animals and characters that were ordered for Christmas.
Some orders from last year.
Crocheting is one of my most favorite things to do! When we go camping, I like to sit in my lawn chair and enjoy God's creation while I work up a special hat or a new design.

Now, I'm working to build this little business of mine to hopefully provide a significant income for my family of 7. My husband pastors a church and works a full-time job, so we are pretty busy, but I feel I should do whatever I can to help in any way I can. We love the Lord and He and His will always come first. I feel He has blessed me with the skills to be able to establish this business and help it grow. My family comes next. They are the reason I do what I do. I want to be with and raise my children, and this little business of mine helps make that possible.

Anytime you order from A.C. Stokes Designs, know that you are getting a carefully custom-made item handcrafted in my home where love abounds and everything is approached with prayer. I try to specifically pray for the recipient of each of my items that they may feel the love of God when they wear it. When you support A.C. Stokes Designs, you're supporting 5 wonderful children that make this Momma's life complete.

Love & Thanks from
Amanda Stokes of A.C. Stokes Designs.
